Name Come live with me and be my love Essay - 1045 Words
Name Come live with me and be my love Focus: Marloweââ¬â¢s use of words in communicating the meaning of the poem and how his poem is a memorable one. The poem ââ¬Å"come live with me and be my loveâ⬠is a love poem written by Christopher Marlowe, persuading his love to come and spend some time with him. It is a poem full of romantic and passionate words that form natural imagery to convey the poetââ¬â¢s feelings and what he means. By the way the poet uses words to persuade his love, makes the poem similar to the poem, ââ¬Å"To his coy mistressâ⬠. In the first stanza, the poet says, ââ¬Å"Come live with me and be my loveâ⬠. He just says ââ¬Å"comeâ⬠and does not add ââ¬Å"pleaseâ⬠to show her a bit of urgency but in a polite or calm tone. He stresses on theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This sentence he has made also involves nature to show how he really wants them to relax. He also uses the word, ââ¬Å"seeingâ⬠to show to her that it is only for pleasure. He then says, ââ¬Å"By shallow rivers to whose fallsâ⬠. The poet uses the word, ââ¬Å"riverâ⬠because the river is indeed a peaceful and quiet place to be and that that is what he wants. Then he says ââ¬Å"Melodious birds sing madrigalsâ⬠. Again he uses a natural imagery to create a nice impression in his loveââ¬â¢s mind. In this stanza, the poet is just beginning to try to capture his loveââ¬â¢s mind with calm and passionate natural imagery. ââ¬Å"And I will make thee beds of roses and a thousand fragrant posiesâ⬠. Although the persona is using natural imagery to capture his loveââ¬â¢s mind still, over here he uses this allusion to convince his love to come and live with him. He uses this allusion because he knows that roses cannot be made out posies no matter the amount, he wants to show to his love that he loves her so much that he would do something impossible and something that could take forever. In the next two sentences, he says, ââ¬Å"A cap of flowers, and a kirtle Embroidered all with leaves of myrtleâ⬠to explain to his love that if she comes to live with him, he would make her a kirtle (a skirt made with leaves) of myrtle. He shows her that it would be a beautiful one when he uses the word, ââ¬Å"Flowersâ⬠. Also, in this stanza, he uses natural imagery to convince his love. In stanza four the personaShow MoreRelatedSome Christian Songs1126 Words à |à 5 Pagesare ââ¬Æ' I Bless Your Name I bless your name I bless your name For you are worthy of the praise Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful Glorious, glorious, glorious, glorious Marvelous, marvelous, marvelous, marvelous I bless your name I bless your name For you are worthy of the praise ââ¬Æ' God Never Ceases To Amaze Me Inspired by Evangelist Peggy White â⬠¦ by bndsawyer 1/30/01 ââ¬â 4/8/09 God never ceases to amaze me He keeps on doing great things God never ceases to amaze me He keeps on doing greatRead MorePoetry Project826 Words à |à 4 Pagesbased off of my, Miciahââ¬â¢s, opinions.
